For some in the payments industry, talking about “life after contactless” might seem a little presumptuous given that Juniper Research has estimated contactless payments will reach $2.7 trillion in 2021. We have come a long way in payments technology since the first electronic card machine from Visa in 1979, but the last 18 months has seen a dramatic increase in the use of contactless, which is here to stay.
